GAY MEAT – "MORE GOOD ANGELS" Karl Kuehn, known for his work with Museum Mouth and Say Anything, has been using the name Gay Meat for quite some time, but he’s finally set to unveil his debut full-length album titled Blue Water on April 24 through Skeletal Lighting. Collaborating with notable figures like Jeff Rosenstock, Chris Farren, and Sarah Tudzin from illuminati hotties, the first single, "More Good Angels," is an uplifting indie rock anthem that promises to resonate with listeners.
MORGAN NAGLER – "HEARTBREAK CITY" In March, Morgan Nagler will release her first solo album, I’ve Got Nothing to Lose, and I’m Losing It. She has just shared another poignant track called "Heartbreak City." In her own words, she states, "While most of the song is metaphorical, its meaning hits painfully close to home. As I stand amidst the heartbreak of Minneapolis and countless cities across America, the grief and anger at the ongoing oppression are palpable. My hope is for a shift towards healing and justice, not just here but everywhere suffering exists. I believe change is possible, and this song reflects that yearning."
ANGEL DU$T – "PAIN IS A MUST" This week marks the release of Angel Du$t’s anticipated album Cold 2 The Touch, along with another striking single that showcases their evolving sound.
MIRAH – "THE BALLAD OF THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN" Mirah returns with her first album in seven years, Dedication, arriving later this month. One of the standout tracks is "The Ballad of the Bride of Frankenstein." Mirah describes it as a traditional ballad format, inviting listeners to ponder whether the singer represents the creature's bride or that of Dr. Frankenstein himself. She explores themes of identity, creation, and the blurry lines between characters, asking us to consider how much of our nature is inherent versus shaped by our experiences and relationships.
LUKE TEMPLE & THE CASCADING MOMS – "SHAKE ME AWAKE" Luke Temple, famed for his work in Here We Go Magic and Art Feynman, is set to release his second album with The Cascading Moms, titled Hungry Animal. Ahead of its release this Friday, we get a sneak peek with the track "Shake Me Awake."
SCOUT GILLETT – "CONEY ISLAND" Scout Gillett shares her personal journey through heartbreak with her latest single, "Coney Island," from her upcoming album Tough Touch, due on March 6 via Slouch Records. She reflects on a painful breakup that led to a memorable visit to Coney Island, describing it as one of the most intense experiences of her life filled with raw emotions. "We cried, left notes in the sand during Firework Friday, and played Lou Reed's 'Coney Island Baby' on repeat. This song captures the essence of self-discovery through love and loss."
THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS – "WU-TANG" They Might Be Giants have exciting news! Their forthcoming album, The World Is to Dig, is on the way, following the release of a new EP in January. While details are still under wraps, band members John and John promise, "It’s all bangers!" Here’s the first taste of what’s to come.
ANNA CALVI & IGGY POP – "GOD’S LONELY MAN" Collaborating with the iconic Iggy Pop, Anna Calvi describes him as "disruptive, raw, and honest—a unique force." Their duet shines on this glam-infused track, which serves as the opener for Calvi's new EP, setting the stage for an exciting collection of songs.
MARTIN CARR (THE BOO RADLEYS) – "CONNIE CONVERSE IS PLAYING AT MY HOUSE" Martin Carr, co-founder of Boo Radleys, shares his new single inspired by an intriguing true crime podcast about singer-songwriter Connie Converse, who mysteriously disappeared in the 1970s. Carr explains, "Upon hearing about her, I became captivated by her unique music and deeply personal lyrics. My obsession grew as I explored her story, culminating in a dream where she performed in my kitchen. This song reflects that surreal experience and is the first offering from my upcoming solo album."
