A thrilling comeback story is unfolding at the Delray Beach Open! Sebastian Korda, an American tennis star, has just secured his spot in the final, marking his first ATP Tour final appearance in over a year.
In a decisive match on Saturday, Korda dominated Flavio Cobolli, the third seed, with a straight-sets victory of 7-6(1), 6-1. This achievement is even more impressive considering he didn't face a single break point during the 76-minute clash.
"It was an incredible match," Korda shared. "My serve was on point, and I managed to keep the pressure off, which allowed me to return with confidence. I felt like I was in control from the tie-breaker onwards."
But here's where it gets interesting... Delray Beach seems to be Korda's lucky charm. According to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss Index, he now boasts a remarkable 10-2 record at this tournament. In fact, he made it to the final in 2021 as well, only to be defeated by Hubert Hurkacz in the end.
On Sunday, Korda will face either Learner Tien or Tommy Paul, both American seeds, in a guaranteed all-American final.
"This is the dream scenario for any American tennis player," Korda expressed. "To have these kinds of finals in our home country is truly special, and I'm excited to be a part of it."
So, who do you think will take home the trophy? Will Korda's luck hold, or will one of his fellow Americans surprise us all? Let's discuss in the comments and see if we can predict the outcome!
